Living depressed

This is my attempt to make a poem. It is a dialogue between an individual who is explaining the concept of depression to another curious individual. Just be aware that where there are a lot of question marks, the person speaking is the curious individual. Disclaimer: The answers given are all based on the depressed individual’s perspective on the topic.

The world: bleak and treacherous

feelings held back and imprisoned

Amusement rarely confronted

This is depression?

Confined within a cell

to escape the tortures of society.

Helps to hold back the resentment and the loathe

resisting the urge to strike.

Ironic isn’t it?

Willing to be a prisoner

to avoid,

to rebel against the torment?

What’s to fear?

the cruelty

and the calamity,

or the freedom?

Stubbornness, the clutches,

are one of the influencers.

Though the latter is minuscule

compared to the former.

With imprisonment

and abstinence,

there are consequences

which is beneficial?

No.

It’s a selfless act.

Protecting others from

the negativity.

Without receiving gratitude,

nor attaining any reward.

Therefore,

it’s unrequited.

The world: bleak and treacherous

feelings held back and imprisoned

Amusement rarely confronted

This is depression.
